Drum Beats African drumming workshops provide a high energy multicultural cultural experience for corporate events, schools & festivals. Our authentic African drummers and dancers are based in Sydney & Canberra and regularly travel to perform at events throughout NSW and Australia.

INTERACTIVE WORKSHOPS

Communication Skills – African Style!

Our interactive workshops include a drum for each participant and are conducted by African musicians who have lived and breathed music from an early age. Several of our artists are griots (griot is a term used to describe musicians who are the custodians of a villages history & stories which are told through music, dance and song. This is a tradition that is born into and passed down from generation to generation. Drumming is a particularly significant part of this storytelling tradition and in days gone by used to be the main tool of communication between villages.

This communication is the basis for our corporate drumming workshops and many of our African drumming workshops in Sydney and throughout Australia.

We also offer spectacular African drumming & African dance performances that are ideal for awards nights, end of year celebration, festivals & more! The performers are costumed in brightly coloured traditional costumes & provide a high-energy eye-catching spectacle for all to enjoy. If looking for an extra element to your African themed event we also offer a dynamic African fire breather & fire dancer!

      5 star review  Drum Beats presented a workshop to staff as a team building exercise and as a away for staff to extend on some previous work we had done on focus for students. It was a fabulous experience that allowed our staff to reconnect as learners approaching something new, but done in such a warm and supportive way by the facilitators, that everyone was able to participate and take risks to create a beat. It was wonderful to hear the personal stories of our facilitators who shared their passions with us.

      5 star review  Drum beats visit was spectacular, although we have a very small Centre the Facilitator was very accommodating. We have mixed age children and they all enjoyed the interactive nature of the performance, being able to sit on and play their own drums was fantastic! The Facilitator was full of energy and interacted with all of the children in a positive and engaging way. The Educators also loved being involved and we also liked how we learnt more about our world and different languages during the session. Thank you Drum beats!
